Xipio Wireless Data Delivery Function for cdma2000 Networks

The WDDF runs on standard Sun Microsystems servers providing lawful intercept capabilities for cdma2000 and general packet radio services (GPRS) networks. In addition to supporting traditional passive monitoring approaches, the Xcipio WDDF can also interface directly with existing network elements such as AAA servers, PDSNs, SGSNs, and GGSNs. Direct interfaces eliminate the need for additional hardware, which reduces the cost and administration associated with provisioning wireless data intercept capabilities.

Standards Compliance

Compliance with industry and international standards enables lawful intercept to occur regardless of geographic or technological boundaries. Xcipio WDDF supports cdma2000 and GPRS wireless networking standards. In addition, it complies with J-STD-025B and 3GPP specifications.

Real-time Performance

The Xcipio WDDF application is designed specifically for delivering data to law enforcement agencies. Once lawful intercept is authorized by a court order, the platform is provisioned with target identifying information by the Xcipio provisioning engine. With an easy-to-use interface, the provisioning engine enables service providers to provision network elements—such as authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA), packet data servicing node (PDSN), and serving GPRS support node (SGSN) platforms—across the network.

Target data packets are extracted in real time and then processed and delivered to law enforcement in a standard format for secure access by authorized users. Service providers can deploy Xcipio WDDF cost-effectively, easily meet the specific needs of law enforcement agencies, and do it without disrupting existing wireless service offerings.

Flexible Architecture

Designed for maximum flexibility, the Xcipio platform can be cost-effectively deployed by local or regional service providers, as well as scale to meet the needs of large domestic or global carriers. The proven Xcipio OA&M platform has been deployed in more than 50 countries. Xcipio implements a generic managed object server (GMOS), which is responsible for maintaining and administering the delivery function, configuration, and databases. It also protects intercept controls, intercepted call content and call-identifying information,
consistent with service providers’ security policies and practices.

Physical access to Xcipio is restricted to either network connectivity via the Ethernet card or a direct RS232 port.
