Communications intercept has long been a critical tool in assisting law enforcement in criminal investigations. The SS8 Xcipio™ lawful intercept platform offers a Circuit Switched Delivery Function (CSDF) that enables service providers to collect real-time communication content and/or call identifying information from traditional circuit-switched networks and deliver it to law enforcement agencies in a standards-compliant format.

Real-time, Comprehensive Intercept Capabilities

The Xcipio CSDF from SS8 Networks™ is an off-switch lawful intercept application that supports traditional circuit-switched wireless and wireline networks.

The CSDF runs on standard Sun Microsystems servers that provide provisioning and intercept capabilities. Once lawful intercept is authorized by a court order, the Xcipio provisioning engine provisions the CSDF with target identifying information. This information is then used to provision network switches with the target’s identity, collect intercepted information from those switches, and deliver this information to the authorized law enforcement agencies—all in real-time. Pertinent call information and voice communications are collected from network switches, and the Xcipio CSDF platform manages information processing, routing, replication, identification, encapsulation, and delivery to law enforcement in a standard format
for secure access.

Standards Compliance

Compliance with industry and international standards enables lawful intercept to occur regardless of geographic borders. Xcipio CSDF supports delivery of call content and call-identifying information in real-time, telco environments in compliance with Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). Xcipio also supports J-STD-025A and ETSI requirements.

A Strong Industry Partner

As the leading provider of lawful intercept solutions, SS8 Networks works closely with service providers and network equipment manufacturers to deliver robust intercept solutions. In addition, SS8 provides a vital liaison between equipment vendors, service providers and the law enforcement community, exchanging new ideas, supporting existing solutions, and ensuring that future solutions will continue to meet their needs.
Training and knowledge transfer are key elements of SS8 lawful intercept solutions. We provide extensive support to the system administrators, operators, and agents who install, maintain, and use the Xcipio platform.

Deploy Transparently and Manage Easily

The Xcipio CSDF application utilizes a proprietary switch matrix platform designed for delivering call content to law enforcement agencies. A common interface simplifies set-up and operation. Service providers can deploy Xcipio CSDF cost-effectively, securely meet the specific needs of law enforcement agencies, and do it without disrupting their existing voice and data service offerings. The proven Xcipio OA&M platform has been deployed in more than 50 countries. Xcipio implements a generic managed object server (GMOS), which is responsible for maintaining and administering the delivery function, configuration, and databases. It also protects intercept controls, intercepted call content and call-identifying information, consistent with telecommunications service provider security policies and practices.
