As law enforcement and national governments work quickly to keep up with criminals’ use of the internet and numerous applications and social media sites today, telecommunications providers need dependable capabilities to comply with law enforcement requests to do so.  In many cases, network devices (SBCs, routers, switches, feature servers, gateways, etc.) cannot provide an active intercept capability or are not powerful enough to meet the needs of law enforcement today.

SS8’s Xcipio probe is perfectly suited to perform passive intercept for these scenarios. As a passive device, the probe is independent of the network, meaning no network performance impact. Unlike network taps that only replicate electrical currents or beams of light, the Xcipio probe actually performs intense computations to examine and assess each packet. By inspecting both the header and the payload of the packets, the Xcipio probe can examine the contents, perform string matches, take action on the contents and correlate additional intercepts - all in an effort to ensure governments and law enforcement get the information they need.
