The products used today for communications intercept typically fall into one of two domains: they are either in the network (wired, cellular, satellite, WiFi, broadband data, etc.) intercepting traffic or at the law enforcement agency’s monitoring center analyzing traffic. Products deployed in the network need to support a wide range of protocols, applications and communication methods to properly identify and acquire traffic of interest. Products deployed at the monitoring center are used for accumulating, reconstructing, and analyzing the intercepted traffic.
As part of its’ end-to-end solution set, SS8 provides products that serve both communication interception and communication forensics challenges. Communication Interception:All network intercept activity is managed and controlled by the SS8 Xcipio® product. . Xcipio secures all intercept activity working with both passive and active intercept approaches. In the active approach Xcipio works directly with existing network elements to facilitate intercepts. For passive intercept, the SS8 AXS passive probes are deployed directly in the network and acquire traffic “off the wire” without affecting network performance, functionality, or availability. |
Communication Forensics:Analysis of today’s IP based networks requires accurate reconstruction and analysis of IP packet streams from myriad Web 2.0 application protocols. SS8’s Intellego™ Internet communication monitoring center application has been designed specifically to visually reconstruct lawfully intercepted digital communications and other web browsing activities. Interfacing directly with Xcipio, Intellego stores and indexes incoming communication content and metadata and provides a browser based interface to view Internet communications. Powerful analytics features enable users to quickly identify communication patterns and behavior, greatly improving the speed at which law enforcement can work to solve cases. |
